Cars, Planes and Bands...what a weekend.

Hello loves!

This weekend I went to the Greenwood Lake Car and Air Show, which was also a Battle of the Bands. I had a BLAST and even got to talk to a band who will be coming on The Dive next semester, The Nico Blues. I've played their music before on air and I must say that they are awesome live! Here's their url, go check them out and download their album.....FOR FREE! http://www.thenicoblues.com/

So, a lot of cover bands played that show. They were pretty good. But it didn't matter because Ideal Drive came in first. I'm sorry but I don't think they should have won. Yeah, they were okay....but just okay. They were very inexperienced and also you could tell they were trying too hard. The only reason why I think they won is because they went on stage during the last cover band's set and played the cow bell and tambourine. Seriously, it wasn't fair. Their drummer wasn't good, it sounded like he didn't know what to play so he just banged everything as hard as possible. It disappointed me. But hey, what can you do...

In other news! I'm going to TWO concerts this week! I'm going to see Tall Tall Trees on Wednesday at 3pm, it's free and at Bryant Park. Then on Friday I'm going to see Talking to Walls at the Bowery Poetry Cafe. Should be fun!

I'll be updating my Flickr account a lot this week it seems! Stay tuned!

Hello Summer.

Semester one and two of the Dive is over. And now I sit here and ponder how far this show has come. It all started as an idea in my head to give local musicians a place to be exposed. Now its more than that. Its a slew of inside jokes, daily traditions, key phrases, show reviews and friendship.

I want to thank all the bands who have either called in, or came on The Dive in the past two semesters. Everyone who has at one point had their music aired on The Dive have inspired me some how. I just want everyone to know that. Those who have come on the show I consider friends and if there is anything that either myself, Amanda or the show in general can do for you or your band PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK! We're here to help. If you have new music or if you know of a new band that needs an outlet, send them our way. We'd gladly accept them with open arms.

I would personally like to thank the following bands for being amazing [in no particular order]: These Branches, Great Winds [RIP], Plesiosaurs, Here's to Life, Morning..., Negasilver, Digamy, ASBPK [now The Formaters], Lift the Decade, and everyone else who has shared a moment with The Dive.

I'd like to thank some of the bands who have made the BIGGEST impact on The Dive:

-Morning... : The idea for The Dive actually came from this band and my love for the local scene. It was an idea I had in my head on how to expose great local talent like Morning... and thus The Dive was born. I would like to thank Darryl, Ben, Albert, Kieran, George and their amazing manager Liz for supporting The Dive and even recording some goofy sound bits that will be used on the show. Thank you from the bottom of everyone here at The Dive's heart.
We believe in you and wish nothing but the best for the band in the future. Good luck as you record your next EP!

Plesiosaurs: John, Dana and Dan. When they were on The Dive it was only John and Dana because Dan was over in Ireland studying abroad for a semester. The [at the time] duo were a pleasure to have in studio and were a pleasure to have at the WSPC Presents... show that was held during the Fall Semester. Thank you guys for being amazing and good luck to you as well with your upcoming EP!

Digamy: Was the first band to be featured on The Dive. The hour I spent with David was amazing. He provided those who listened with inspirational quotes as well as an amazing live performance. They will forever hold a spot in The Dive's heart as being the FIRST band to come on the show.

Lift the Decade: Words cannot explain how glad we were to have you all call in! Especially after the confusion of the SECOND WSPC Presents... show, which the band headlined and were put on the bill last minute! I hope for nothing but the best for you all. And just remember you'll always have fans/friends here at WSPC & SPC!

Negasilver: Thank you for showing the world that an acoustic metal band can really bring it. Congratulations on the full lineup! I'm expecting nothing but the best from you all in the future. Good luck as you go on to play your FIRST HEAD-LINING SHOW on May 30th 2010. You have The Dive's support.

Lacerda: One of the greatest honors was to interview this band via telephone. A big thanks goes out to Scott at Beast Attire for helping The Dive out on by sending our informatioin to them!

I apperciate everything the other bands have done for The Dive. And the rest of you will be getting a special thank you very soon as well!

We're looking forward to next semester and bringing you more local bands/shows/music.

But this isn't good bye for the summer. I'll still be posting to the blog, tumblr and twitter.

We haven't died.

Hey everyone

So the blog will be run by Roz. So all the posts will be by me unless other-wised stated.

I deleted all the posts. Why? Because I really neglected this blog and I felt like it was time to start over. So here we go.

Next week is the season finale of The Dive. It's summer vacation and I'm not sure either Amanda nor myself will be able to get in to do shows. But we are going to do one last episode, and it's going to be good. I promise.

However, the blog will be updated WEEKLY with what's going on during my summer. I'm planning on going to A LOT more shows, talking to A LOT more bands and working on getting them on for the Fall Semester.

Also, check the Tumblr for pictures, links etc., That too will be updated.
thexdive.tumblr.com <--check it.

For band photos you can check out my flickr

Any show I go to I'll take photos :)

Speaking of shows, I'll be going to one TONIGHT. It's at the Knights of Columbus in Garwood NJ. Doors are at 8pm. Come out, dress like a pirate, and let's party.

With that being said I must do all the papers I've been putting off. I KNOW I won't get them done this weekend.

You know, I truly appreciated all of you guys. Keep listening, tell us what you want to hear!

Much love,
--Roz.
