Alright, I do not know who is the idiot that put Texas 1,800 miles apart from NJ but Rozzey Roz and I are carless and have no way of going to SXSW. WHICH SUCKS because there is an army of amazing bands down there right now, ready to rock and we are unable to hear their awesomeness. Vaccines, Gay Blades, Waking Lights, and so many other awesome bands are down there, but we are with them in spirit.
However, just because your beloved Rozzey Roz and Gardizzle are not there does not mean you have to miss all the action. There is still plenty of coverage to be found! Just to The NJ Underground where you can find plenty of coverage by Waking Lights, an awesome band and former guests on the show. Check out a whole bunch of interviews, videos, photos, and more. They will do such an amazing coverage of the show, that you will think that you are actually there.

It Just Keeps Getting Better!
Hey, guys, this is Gardizzle. Now you are probably thinking, "Wow that first half of the season was so amazing and jam packed with bands, how could they possibly top it in the second half of the season?" Well, friends, we are happy to announce that the second half of the season is just as band orgasmic as the first, if not more. Rozzey Roz and I were very happy about the first half and super excited for all the great shows and interviews in the next half.
So far we have had amazing bands on like The Waking Lights, Prawn, HANDS ON THE STEREO, The Front Bottoms, Rabbit Troupe, and so many other amazing Jersey bands. We have also been to amazing shows like Cicada Radio, HANDS ON THE STEREO, Those Mockingbirds, and Nico Blues @ Maxwell's. The next half will be just as amazing if not better so I hope you guys are still tuning in Tuesdays at 4:00 and Fridays at 5:00!
For this half we focused on branching into new territories of not only musical genres but geographical locations as well! Get ready for doses of not only a few New York bands but a band from Canada (that's right motherf***ing Canada) to be on the show as well.
Here is the schedule that we have so far (expect additions and possibly a few subtractions as well):

LIVE REVIEW: Those Mockingbirds 1/22/11 Meatlocker
When I heard that one of the best local bands, Those Mockingbirds, were playing at one of the coolest venues, The Meatlocker, how could I possibly refuse? It was night of firsts that I will not soon forget.
The Meatlocker is an awesome punk venue in Montclair, NJ that looks like the world's coolest basement. It is a small venue with stickers and graffetti plastered on the walls. If you are waiting for the show start, you can take a nice comfy seat on the couches or backseat cars located in the lobby. All of this is behind a single unlabeled, black door situated between two restaurants. If you don't know where The Meatlocker is, you are unlikely to find it on your own and don't even bother with Google Maps, however with the amount of kids who gather outside to smoke cigarettes and to get fresh air you'll be able to find it.
Now time to talk about the bands.
The night was also a benefit show for Michael Rubinstein, a young man who recently passed away in the area. The first band was clearly a brand new band. It was three piece rock band that mostly played instrumental music. However, as far as I and the rest of the audience knew, they had no name and neither did their songs. They were decent and they have a lot of potential. Overtime this band could very well make a splash in the NJ scene.
Next, was a band that I never heard of but instantly started to love. Dubbed Le Le Low they were a four piece band that featured an alternative/punk sound. Everyone should look forward to possibly seeing them on The Dive in the future. They ended their set with an impressive cover of Peter Bjork, and John's "Young Folks."
Coming all the way form Scranton, Pennsylvania was an enormous band called A Fire With Friends. This seven piece band took up the entire stage with their various instruments. There was a lead singer/guitar player, synthesizer player/snare drummer, female pianist, another guitar player, bass player, percussionist on drum set, and another percussionist who played tambourine, floor tom, and another snare. While they were good and I appreciated their pop/folk sound, their instrumentation just seems to excessive. Seriously, do you really need three snare durms on one stage?!
Finally, the band that Rozzey Roz and I came to see: Those Mockingbirds. I was temporarily deaf afterwards, but it was totally worth it to hear one of my favorite local bands. With a set list comprised of songs from their EP No Symmetry and new songs, they blew me away. Their unique sound that really has now official genre is incredible. If you can ever get the chance to see Those Mockingbirds, I'd say do it.
All in all, it was an amazing concert that was completely worth the $5 entry fee.

Okay, I know we've been slacking
BUT, Gardizzle and I vowed to start updating this more often. Its a new year and there is A BUNCH of new surprises in store. We're in the mist of talking about one of our surprises that won't be announced for a while. And by a while I mean a while while.
We will however been doing some band features [finally, I know] as well as hopefully *fingers crossed* be getting a camcorder so we can vblog and film our in-studio performances.
Thank you to our wonderful fans who have stuck by us and our new fans who are hopefully going to stick around to see what The Dive can and WILL become.

So the CMJ Music Marathon took a toll on me and I just recovered from it. This week on launches the 'Where are they now' series that The Dive will be doing, the first band up is morning... [www.morningband.com] and hopefully other bands that have been on the show the first year it started will come back on air and talk to us and let us know what they've been up to.

Band Feature ; Those Mockingbirds

What is one of the hottest new bands from Montclair, New Jersey? Well that would be the relatively new band, Those Mockingbirds. With their catchy melodies and interesting lyrics they are taking the Jersey scene by storm.
The band is comprised of Adam, guitarist and lead vocalist, Tory (ironically Japanese for “bird”) the violinist, Dane on guitar, Dom on bass, and Matt plays drums. The beat is driven by the drums and bass, guitar provides the chords, Tory’s violin dances around the melody, and main melody is provided by Adam’s singing and the occasional vocal harmony. These culminate into a unique sound of music that draws inspiration from almost all forms of rock and pop. Their genre of music is ambiguous. On their Facebook page they are listed as “Classy/Alt. Classy,” their Myspace classifies them as “Indie / Acousmatic / Tape music / Hyphy,” and their PureVolume page simply puts “Indie / Soul / Rock.” Just know that Those Mockingbirds fall under the “Awesome” genre.
Those Mockingbirds only have one album right now: No Symmetry – EP, which was released back in April. However, expect new albums coming soon as well as a variety of upcoming shows and events.
What does the band enjoy doing when not playing concerts or composing songs? Kidnap the Numa Numa guy of course. He is kept in a secret and secure location and will only be safely released if 50,000 people visit www.savenuma.com and download their single “Honest. Honest?”
Those Mockingbirds are an amazing new band and I see great things coming to them in the future very soon. You better get their autograph now, because these guys are going to soar in fame.
